Information
The origins of piping are shrouded in mystery as no one really knows where the
original concept came from, but it is highly likely that an instrument in the
form of a bagpipe was conceived in parallel over many different cultures.
Today there are many different forms of bagpipes; from the small pipes to the
enchanting sound of the "Great Highland pipes". These pipes are well known and
played all over the world- not just in Bonnie Scotland.
The bagpipes are a very rewarding instrument to play and although they only have
nine notes (9) to play with there are many styles to choose from .
The solitary piper playing a lament at the graveside, to the mass band playing
marches and reels.
We firmly believe that the sound of the bagpipes and drums still have a lot to
offer in today's modern society, people can often hear their sound from miles
away, their emotions stirring as the band approaches.
Playing the pipes and Drums is a very rewarding experience, it takes practice
and dedication and a long time to master but the rewards are worth the training.
